High Capacity, Jumperless Technology and Provisioning Simplicity Allow LeadingSoutheastern CLEC to Expand Service Portfolio While Increasing Service Velocity and Reducing Operating Expenses.
Ottawa, Canada – July 12, 2006 - Meriton Networks, specialists in Agile Optical Networking, today announced that Telepak Networks, Inc., a full service provider of Voice, Video and Data telecommunications and network services, has deployed the Meriton Networks 6400 OTP (Optical Transport Platform) to deliver advanced new broadband services at rates up to 10Gb/s to customers throughout the state of Mississippi. With over 1,900 miles of fiber optic cable throughout Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana and Florida (states where it is certified as a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier), Telepak Networks provides commercial broadband, Internet and local and long distance telephone services to other carriers, Internet service providers, universities, governmental agencies, hospitals and businesses.
There is no disputing the fact that service providers face a number of challenges to their networks and business models. The continuing falling unit cost of network bandwidth is driving service providers to shift their focus toward high-value, bandwidth-hungry multimedia services. Inherent with this shift is the constant change in the nature of network traffic with increased variability in how and when consumers will want to experience the content (PCs, PVRs, iPods, etc.).
To satisfy all these requirements, the next-generation network transport architecture needs to evolve such that it can deliver services over both wireless and wireline access networks simultaneously. This evolution will see the move from traditional closed-ring OADMs to embrace multi-ring and multi-degree switching as well as a move from the conventional separation of the Ethernet aggregation and optical domain.
Leading service providers are spending an increasing portion of their WDM dollars on ROADM-enabled systems. This webinar will explore how service providers choose between mesh and ring and the different types of ROADMs, including mux-demux, wavelength blocker, PLC and WSS. In addition the criteria for choosing which types of ROADMs to use at 2-degree nodes, mesh spurs, and ring interconnect will be discussed.
Optimally Building Mixed SONET/SDH, WDM and Ethernet Networks
Mixing business and broadband services is forcing service providers to change and even transform their optical networks by designing in a flexible mix of Ethernet, SONET/SDH, and WDM. This webinar gives real world examples of how Service Providers are transforming their networks using new hybrid Ethernet-WDM-SONET/SDH products.
October was another busy month of providing hands-on technical training for our growing global team of channel partners. Representatives from five new partner companies -- spanning specific market sectors in Latin America, Asia, and Canada -- spent several days at Meriton's Ottawa and Piscataway facilities. The four day course offered intensive interaction with Meriton product and service managers to hone their skills at effectively representing Meriton's value to their end user customers.
